With metal being one of the most popular sub-genres of the rock bracket, it’s no surprise that Download Festival has been a staple in any rock fans calendars during the 17 years that the event has been running.
Taking place in Donington Park in June, festival goers descend on Leicestershire to watch rock royalty, such as AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Metalica over the years. The power of the organisers could be seen in 2015 as Download Festival also introduced a festival in France over the same weekend. Longchamp Racecourse in France hosts an almost identical line-up and alternates days with the UK version.
2015 also brought about big technological advancements for the event and allowed Download to be the first of its kind to implement these changes. RFID wristbands and facial recognition were used by Leicestershire police during the event, which caused controversy when it was revealed these changes weren’t mentioned on the festivals website or social media.
This year’s event will run from the 9th-11th June and will feature Sum 41, Biffy Clyro and Rock N’ Roll royalty, Aerosmith over the weekend.
Tickets for the festival are available on the Download Festival website, as well as travel information, camping information and VIP information.
Tickets are priced at £205 for a weekend ticket and £83 for a day ticket, while luxury camping facilities start from £405 a person.
